Recap of WOL @ National Air & Space Museum

The National Air and Space Museum had its annual tribute to African American Pioneers in Aviation on 24 Feb 07 at the Steven Udvar Hazy Center just south of the Washington Dulles Airport. The day was promoted as a "family event" designed to not only introduce young and old to some original Tuskegee Airmen but to also afford visitors a chance to meet African American AF Academy graduates. The Public Programs Office of the National Air and Space Museum saw the WOL as a perfect fit for the day's activities. Our members did a great job! We were on time and sharp! Not only did we have fun with the visitors who stopped by to learn about the "Academy Experience" and life thereafter, but we had a heartwarming time getting to know each other. We talked about family, careers, and of course the future of the WOL Alumni Group. The day was energizing! A couple of grads (1963 and a 1964 grad) stopped by to chat. That was a treat. Even better, the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. members (including a couple of original Tuskegee Airmen) present for a forum stopped by for a photo. The Museum staff has already asked WOL for more official visits. Many thanks to the grads and families who took part.
