I have been out, and I TOTALLY forgot to tell anyone about the new site! I had to move the draft site off of a testbed and onto it's own domain in order to finish building in features. I purchased usafablackgrads.com for this purpose. This new domain can be taken down or redirected to usafaway.org whenever we are ready. Please test out the site and let me know what you think!!!

Started adding functionality from other site- Advisors and Business Tools. I'm trying to do an auto-expand on the menues, but I may just combine those and similar functions into one menu to reduce clicks- perhaps calling it "Toolkit." Directory as displayed on the site won't be reproduced- that's what the AlumniLocator is for. Perhaps I'll rename it to AlumniSearch for clarity.

Well, I've just returned from my 4th trip in 5 weeks. Today's effort was cleaning up the header, menus, laying groundwork for porting over existing site info and do some work on integrating the subscription module. Unfortunately, I spent 3 hours customizing the payments processor, only to discover that I can't test it until we have an active payment gateway. This will give us subscriptions that allow you immediate access to the members-only areas of the site once you've paid your dues.

Hi, I'm back in town- but leaving Friday, so please bear with me. I didn't think anyone was viewing this site, so please email me to let me know you are. In the meantime, please explore this site or vist our existing site.

Welcome to our new site!
The AlumniLocator is currently set to PUBLIC so that you can play with it. It will eventually be set to MEMBERS ONLY (if that's what the board wants) or at a minum USER-RELEASED data
This site is still under construction... what you see is only the tip of the iceberg. Check back often to see what's changed/been added. This site will have photos, a forum, a way
to search contacts and slice them down by groups (year group, people in VA, active duty, etc). Registered users can start their own blog, create buddy lists, and sponsor events upload images and other content (audio, files, etc), submit news, and participate in the forum. This is all done through the "Spice it Up" link. Even better, is that members can create and/or their own pages.
Want a page on Af-Ams in Miami? It's easy to create one.
Want to write a news article on your latest acheivement? Go for it!
Want to post an announcement? You can log in and do it from any computer!
There's a ton of other features and customization available. I was just introduced to this yesterday, and it has a little bit of a learning curve so please be patient. I'm so excited about this, so if you get a chance take a look. And tell me what you'd like to see.
Enjoy!
Janine
PS: you'll probably see a few error messages here and there as I learn the software. Give me some time...
